Medical tourism, or health tourism, refers to travel undertaken with the goal ofreceiving medical treatment in another country. The reasons for this type oftourism include the absence of similar treatment methods, high costs, and lack of advanced medical technologies in the home country. On the other hand, considering the relatively lower medical fees in Iran compared to other countries in the region, along with the provision of internationally high-quality medical and nursing services, a large number of patients prefer to travel to Iran for treatment.
This has led to our beloved country becoming one of the leading health tourism destinations in the region. In this regard, Nikan Hospital, with its capacities, successful international achievements, and leadership in modern health service management, has obtained a license from the Ministry of Health to accept international patients.
IPD Services:
The International Patients Department (IPD) consists of specialized experts and experienced physicians fluent in international languages, providing 24-hour health services to international patients.

  •  A resident interpreter proficient in Arabic, English, and French is available at this center, facilitating the entire process for patients from the moment they arrive in the country until discharge from the hospital, ensuring no communication barriers arise.
  •  The senior IPD expert is responsible for coordinating the presence of international patients in the hospital. To streamline the service process, the presence of a welcoming nurse in the lobby and a VIP/CIP expert in the hospital has created effective tools for this department.
  •  Creating accommodation spaces based on the patient’s culture in the hospital is one of Nikan Hospital’s competitive advantages. The inpatient wards are equipped with international visual and print media approved by the Ministry of Culture, welcome stands in the patient’s language, their national flag, menus in Arabic/English tailored to the patient’s nationality, options for international cuisine, and the ability to exchange foreign currencies into Iranian Rial within the hospital.
  •  To alleviate travel and accommodation concerns for patients and their companions, collaboration with various hotels of different service levels, assistance with obtaining or extending visas, booking travel arrangements (air, land, and sea), and access to local Tehran tours have significantly reduced patient worries.
  •  Based on the patient’s condition and if desired, special medical staff can accompany them from the airport to the hospital and vice versa.
  •  All hospital documents and forms are translated into both Arabic and English, which is a significant step in protecting patients’ rights. Daily surveys from international patients using various methods (international questionnaires, face-to-face interviews, or email to the hospital) and corrective actions within a maximum of 12 hours have proven effective in clarifying and safeguarding patient rights.
  •  Daily visits by the IPD doctor to all international patients, along with the experienced and highly specialized team of physicians, are key elements in building patient trust in Nikan Hospital.
  •  Providing an English invoice along with a medical report at discharge ensures peace of mind for patients regarding continued treatment in their home country or another medical center.

By visiting the hospital website and following the relevant guidance, contact the IPD expert who will provide you with all the information and answer all your questions. After that, patients are asked to provide them with their medical documents so that they can discuss your medical history with the relevant specialists and after a comprehensive evaluation of the treatment description, you will be informed that if you wish, you can visit on a specific date and make the necessary arrangements for your trip.

Patient Admission:

Upon arrival, the patient is admitted to the International Relations Unit and presented with the patient’s passport by an expert from the relevant unit. Based on the patient’s problem and in coordination with the IPD doctor, the patient’s medical file is prepared for the relevant department in the shortest possible time and treatment measures are initiated for the patient.

During the hospital stay, the patient is followed up daily by an expert from the International Unit and is in contact with the patient’s interpreter or liaison. Relevant follow-ups are carried out through them. A survey is conducted based on the patient’s language by presenting a survey form. Finally, on the day of discharge, the patient is discharged by presenting the relevant invoice and discharge form, and is followed up by the International Unit for 10 days after discharge.
